Turkish Angora Cat

You are here: Breeds and Registration > Cat Breeds > Turkish Angora Cat

This breed is very different from, and should not be confused with the Persian. Originating in Ankara, the Turkish capital, this cat has a rather long body, head and tapering tail, with medium length fur that is fine and silky. The Angora is intelligent and affectionate, but still quite rare in North America. Presently only white Angoras are recognized for showing in championship classes, but they may have almond-shaped blue eyes, amber eyes or one eye of each of these colors.
